“Train up a child in the way they should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” - Proverbs 22:6

In an article written by Tim Chailles, "10 Lessons from 10 Years of Public Schooling," the author reminds us that, as Christians, we don't just send our children to public school; we send the whole family.  Public schooling requires the participation of your entire family. You, as parents, need to be proactive in prayer and intentional in teaching biblical worldview from home, preparing your children for messages that will conflict with that worldview. You are ultimately responsible for your children’s education, regardless of where you choose to send them to school.

As a public school family, you can also come together and prayerfully cast a vision to impact your school.  As you intentionally pray, care and share in your school, you have the opportunity to see the power of God at work.  Public school families can connect with other families within their churches and/or schools to build community and support and encourage each other along the way. As you do, you will see God answering prayer, opening doors to the gospel, and building and transforming relationships.  As Christians you can make an impact, not checking your faith at the public school door, but living it out legally and authentically.

Through intentional prayer, care and share efforts, you can come together to seek the Lord in how He may be calling your family to navigate the public school journey in a God honoring way and strive to impact your public school for Christ.

What We Offer Families:

Compass comes alongside families, connecting and equipping them to impact their public schools for Christ.

Compass Strives To Connect, Equip & Impact

  • Connect within your Church-At Compass we are working to cast a vision for public school ministry within the local church. As churches embrace this vision, they can be intentional about creating a space within their churches for public school families. Once families are connected, they can be equipped and mobilized for impact through intentional prayer, care and share efforts. One way we do this at Compass is through Public School Family Connection meetings. These meeting are organized by volunteers or church leadership to create a space for public school families at your church to connect and encourage one another. These can take place on a Sunday morning, or another convenient time during the week. Topics can include prayer, serving in your school, religious liberties, school involvement, ways to share our faith, or any other relevant topics on the hearts of your families. Contact the Compass team to learn more.

Connect within your School-Connecting with other Christians within your school is critical as you strive for impact in your public school journey. As you unite with others within the Compass vision, you can work together to pray intentionally for those in your school, develop a care strategy that will help you to build important relationships there and, together, be prepared for doors God may open to share the gospel.

  • Compass provides resources to equip your families to be intentional public school families. We strive to offer resources to teach biblical worldview from home, educate on our religious liberties as Christians within the public schools, and help our parents cast a vision for impact for their families. We often partner with local churches to feature speakers on relevant topics. Check out our events page for upcoming equipping events.

  • At Compass, we get excited about the opportunities God creates us for to impact our public schools for Christ through prayer, care and share efforts. As we connect and are equipped to be intentional public school parents, we engage as God leads. Check out our Family Resource Page for ways you can reach into your school.

You can make an impact in your school through intentional PRAYER, CARE and SHARE efforts:

Prayer

Compass educators and families understand the power of prayer and are intentional in how they pray for their schools, students and staff.  They know that it is only through prayer, and the power of the Holy Spirit, that they can positively impact their schools.

2 Chronicles 7:14  - “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Care

At Compass we strive to be the hands and feet of Christ by meeting our schools’ most basic needs.  We make extraordinary efforts to show His love to others by finding practical ways to serve generously.

Ephesians 2:10 - “For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God has prepared in advance for us to do.”

Matthew 5:16 - “Let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Share

At Compass we are open to opportunities God brings for us to legally and authentically share the hope we have in Christ. God calls us to always be prepared to give an answer for the hope that we have. We are compelled by compassion and love to share our faith with gentleness and respect, and in a way that draws others to Him.

1 Peter 3:15 - “Always be prepared to give an answer for the hope that you have but do so with gentleness and respect.”
