The first quarter has wrapped up and winter is in the air! We here at Compass are blown away by all God is doing in and for our schools! A few highlights: Moms in Prayer groups are forming in schools all over the metro. A new local group will be starting at CMS right here in Eden Prairie in the coming weeks.

Hello Parents!

The first quarter has wrapped up and winter is in the air!  We here at Compass are blown away by all God is doing in and for our schools!  A few highlights:


  • Moms in Prayer groups are forming in schools all over the metro.  A new local group will be starting at CMS right here in Eden Prairie in the coming weeks. 

  • A new CRU group has started at Chaska High School thanks to the obedience and diligence of a local student and her mom.

  • Close to 1300 south metro schools kids gathered on the football field of Lakeville North HS on October 13th for an FCA event called "Fields of Faith."  FOF is a student-led event where students challenge their peers to read the Bible and follow Jesus Christ.  These kids joined together in a time of worship, testimonies were shared, and former NFL player, Ben Utecht, shared a message for the kids.

  • The basis of all we do at Compass Ministry starts with prayer.  Weekly prayer continues to takes place for our schools and our ministry every Wednesday night at 7pm in CA120C at Grace. 

  • Over 30 educators gathered at Grace Church to hear from prominent Muslim Background believer to learn more about being relevant and practical in the lives of their Muslim students.

  • MSHSL was forced to table their vote until December on their proposed Transgender policy thanks to many bold Christians who came out to their board meeting in October and voiced their concerns articulately and intelligently.

  • And so much more!!

What's Happening in November?


Tuesday, November 4th


VOTE!!!!  I am embarrassed to say there were years that I didn't realize how important it was to cast my vote.  MN Family Council has put together a voter's guide that will be a very helpful resource as you make your decisions.  Check it out at  I learned recently the mayor that led the city of Houston's effort to demand a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality or gender identity was elected after only 16% of the Houston population voted.  We need to vote!!

"Yes You Can!  Student Freedoms in the Public Schools"  Monday, Nov 10th, 7pm, Room CA213 at Grace Church.

Is it legal for your student to pray at school? Can they share their faith in their homework assignments? Are student-led bible studies at school even legal? As our freedom of religion and freedom of speech are increasingly threatened, it has never been more important that we understand our rights as Christians within the public schools. Join Clint Elliot, a litigator with Alliance Defending Freedom, along with our own Heather Kohnen and Hannah Ngygen, as they educate us on our rights as laid out by the US Department of Education. ATTENTION ALL MINNETONKA FAMILIES!!  7-8:30pm at Redeemer Bible Church.


Our Minnetonka friends are holding their first ever Christian Community night!  There will be representatives from various Christian communities and you will learn ways you and your student can get plugged in within the Minnetonka district.  See attached flier for more details.  If you attend school in another district but would like to sponsor a similar event, please contact us at


Saturday, November 22nd


PARENTS, WE NEED YOUR HELP!  Compass' biggest event of the year is coming soon! Nov 22nd is our 2nd Annual Educator Breakfast from 9-11am at Grace for ALL CHRISTIAN EDUCATORS in the public schools! This means teachers, paras, administrative staff, principals, school nurses, etc.  Each of you probably knows at least a few Christian staff in our schools.  Please extend a personal invitation to them by passing along the attached flier.  They can RSVP to this link We will fill up fast and want to be sure we have a place for those special educators you know! Last year was an amazing experience for all who attended. It will be a great time of fellowship and an opportunity to hear our own Clint Elliott speak on "Transforming our Schools with God's Love and Truth". Help us love up and encourage our educators.  It's FREE! 




We will continue to meet to pray for our schools and Compass Ministry on Wednesday nights in November.  We will meet November 5, 12 and 19th.  We will be off for Thanksgiving on the 26th.  We meet at Grace Church in CA120C at 7pm.  Join us for a powerful time of Spirit-led prayer!!  All are welcome!



Stay tuned!  Our Compass website will go LIVE in the next couple of weeks.  It's not 100% but it will be a starting point as we work to make connections for God's purposes in our public schools.
