Connect with Christian Community in Your School
"Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together,as some are in the habit of doing, but encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25.
Compass is passionate about creating Christian community so that every believer can connect to other believers within their school or district. When we come together as the body of Christ, we can "spur one another on toward love and good deeds." We can also pray together, study God's Word, encourage each other and hold each other accountable to live the life God desires for each of us.
What is Christian community and what does it look like in our schools? Christian community is a group of believers coming together in the name of Jesus. It can be formed at the local school level within groups of students, parents or staff. It can also be developed at the district level. Some examples of current student Christian communities in our schools are student-led bible studies or faith clubs, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, CRU, and Young Life. Parents gather for Compass prayer events and moms and grandmothers all over the world are gathering at the local school level to pray through Moms In Prayer.
Educators are also coming together in community. Teachers and other staff members are meeting together outside of contracted hours at the local school level for prayer and bible study. District-wide groups are also gathering connecting believers across districts for a broader sense of Christian community.
